Have you ever wondered what other educators are doing in order to make their teaching methods more effective? Stop wondering and find out for yourself! Aries® now offers the Digital Video Library (DVL); a series of web based DVD episodes of teachers integrating technology in their classroom. Supplemented with expert commentary and curriculum resources, the DVL library provides on-demand support for all educators. This series helps to introduce pre-service teachers to a wide range of technological tools and resources.
Based on Standards
The Digital Video Library is based on the National Education Technology Standards (NETS) developed by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). Specifically, the DVL series focuses on the NETS for Students: Connecting Curriculum and Technology (2000) standards and the NETS for Teachers: Preparing Teachers to Use Technology (2000) standards. The DVL library enables educators to access video of these technology standards in action, anytime, anywhere.
The NETS DVLs were created by ASU Technology Based Learning and Research, in a project partially funded by the Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to use Technology (PT3) program.

The purpose of Diverse Perspectives on History is to explore the subjective nature of historical information. Teachers develop a lesson that presents a historical event from an unconventional perspective. Teachers use technology to enhance the effectiveness of their presentation.
Teach-ED Wearing your Geography
The purpose of Wearing Your Geography is to effectively demonstrate five themes of geography by having teachers participate in a simulated lesson conducting Internet research, e-mail and use electronic resources to research locations shown on t-shirts depicting common geographic locations. Teachers will then develop a lesson plan based on their own experience.
Teach-ED Why am I Special?
The purpose of Why Am I Special? is for teachers to experience a technology-enhanced lesson about the characteristics of their own personality. The use of digital images, database, and spreadsheet software is incorporated within the lesson and teachers will present their model using presentation software.

The purpose of Why Are Things Where They Are? is to explore the factors that influence geographic distribution of population. Teachers explore various areas to determine reasons for settlement in certain locations. Technology resources are used to provide additional demonstration and proof.

The purpose of Mother Nature Pattern Maker is to explore methods of classification and techniques for visual recognition. Teachers capture digital images of patterns in nature and develop questions and methods that will prompt students to make increasingly complex classification assignments.

The purpose of Design-a-Lesson: Packaging a Product is to discover how mathematics can be applied in marketing. Teachers will develop a lesson that presents the problem of finding optimal packaging size. Technology is used to boost conceptual development of the concepts of maximum and minimum.

The purpose of Meeting of Mathematical Minds is to use the WebQuest model of higher-level thinking in the context of learning about the history of mathematics. Teachers demonstrate their knowledge of the contribution of each mathematician by applying the individual’s contribution in mathematics to a 21st century problem.

The purpose of What's My Pattern? is to explore how technology can help discover mathematical relationships. Teachers use technology tools to establish and communicate patterns that exist for three-dimensional geometric shapes.

The purpose of Survey of Systems is to explore the functions of and relationships in systems. Teachers plan an investigative approach for the study of a system and develop a web page to present their findings. Teachers role-play as elementary students acting within cooperative learning groups.

The purpose of Cool Liquids is to use technology to conduct experiments. Teachers use a temperature probe to conduct an experiment.
Teach-ED Bounce Back – The Long and Short of It
The purpose of Bounce Back-The Long and Short of It is to explore how technology can improve conceptual understanding of scientific principles and facilitate the application of pure science to marketing. Teachers design a lesson using Probeware to teach concepts of motion.
