How a UPS works

When a UPS senses a loss of electric power, it automatically transfers electricity from a standby battery. Consequently, a UPS remains unaffected by external line conditions. Uninterrupted power supplies are used primarily by companies running mission critical computers, or by home users who cannot afford a power outage.
